What can we say about the Swan Valley...

Experience the Swan Valley and build a lifetime of memories...

Beginning in the Mission Mountains Wilderness Area, the Swan River flows north through the heavily timbered Swan Valley. As it nears the Wildlife Refuge and the pristine 10 mile long Swan Lake it offers spectacular views of the mountains that surround it.

Continuing on its journey to Bigfork, the river nourishes a mix of forests, fields, farmland and myriads of birds and wildlife. Its last mile turns into a whitewater extravaganza called the “wild mile,” an exciting ride for rafters and kayakers who come from far and wide. The name Swan Lake likely came from the migration of swans that were once abundant there.

Early tribes built small huts for their traditional sweat baths and eventually a few homesteaders began to settle the area. In 1914, the village of Swan Lake sprang up. Soon after, the lake was stocked with rainbow and cutthroat trout. Graylings were introduced in 1952, and in the late 1990s both kokanee and salmon were introduced.

This sporting property is ideally situated in the Swan Valley approximately 35 miles from Bigfork, the artisan village renowned for its repertoire theater, art galleries and fine restaurants. Seeley Lake, a winter recreation center for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling is approximately 20 miles to the south and Swan Lake is a few miles to the north. Beyond is the amazing Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River, offering endless recreational pursuits.
